NAME

debian-mirrors - measure responses from Debian mirrors

SYNOPSIS

debian-mirrors [ -f file ] [ -n max ] [ -v ] [ -h ]

DESCRIPTION

debian-mirrors extracts the address of primary Debian GNU/Linux mirror sites from the file README.mirror.txt, runs fping(1) to measure the effective throughput over the Internet to each of these hosts, and reports the result in increasing order of response time (i.e., fastest one first).

OPTIONS

-f file
This options can be used to provide a local copy of the README.mirrors.txt file. If this option is not given, the file README.mirrors.txt is retrieved via anonymous ftp from the primary Debian GNU/Linux ftp site, ftp.debian.org. Note that this option also allows you to provide your personal choice of sites which debian-mirrors should test by simply deleting all undesired sites from a copy of README.mirrors.txt.
-n max
This options sets the number of ftp sites that will be printed at the end of the program. The default value is 20.
-v
This options activates verbose behaviour.
-h
This option causes the program to print a short help message.
