The following utilities are not included in this am-utils package since they were deemed not used, not working on a Debian machine or not useful: am-eject does not work except in the most trivial cases ctl-amd /etc/init.d/am-utils is better suited ctl-hlfsd nobody would want to use hlfsd expn generally provided by MTA (sendmail, etc) fix-amd-map useless ? fixrmtab useless ? lostaltmail useless ? wait4amd /etc/init.d/am-utils is better suited wait4amd2die /etc/init.d/am-utils is better suited Send me an email if you need these... Also, am-utils has been compiled without support for ldap maps (just to keep the dependencies short), but if someone needs it, I might put LDAP in. The fsinfo utility has been renamed to amd-fsinfo to avoid naming conflicts with a X11 utility. Some people have encountered some problems with am-utils and direct mounts where amd would loose track of which filesystem(s) are mounted or not. According to the am-utils developers, this is a kernel problem. If you run into the above symptoms, you might want to try patching your kernel with the enclosed patches (in /usr/share/doc/am-utils/kernel-patches). You will have to recompile your own kernel. The following are provided: - amd-direct-mount-linux2219.diff applies on top of 2.2.19. It has also been verified to work on top of 2.2.20-pre7. - amd-direct-mount-linux244.diff applies on top of 2.4.4. It also applies on top of 2.4.6, with one reject on fs/namei.c. The reject should be discarded. If you are running other kernels, or check for updated kernel patches, you might want to look at: http://www.am-utils.org/patches/ However, 99% of amd users never run into these problems.
