XMMS for Debian --------------- XMMS, formerly known as X11Amp, means X MultiMedia System. It is completely free, because the upstream authors have arranged with mpg123 author Michael Hipp to relicence his code they used to GPL. Some of the libraries, and all header files, that originally resided in the XMMS package, have been split out to a new "xmms-dev" package. The package's dependencies are somewhat complex compared to an average package -- the dependencies of xmms proper and libxmms are in Depends:, the dependencies of the plugins are in Recommends:, and the gnomexmms dependencies are in Suggests:. If the package management tool of your choice doesn't support some of these dependencies, please do not cast blame for that on the xmms package. Direct thy wrath properly ;o) When filing bug reports against the xmms package, please pay attention to the fact that there are several plugins that are _not_ shipped in this package. -- Josip Rodin Tue, 17 Jul 2001 13:39:01 +0200
