   `\alph{counter}'

   This command causes the value of the `counter' to be printed in
alphabetic characters.  The `\alph' command uses lower case alphabetic
alphabetic characters, i.e., `a, b, c...' while the `\Alph' command
uses upper case alphabetic characters, i.e., `A, B, C...'.
