I started to add the names of the guys that suggested features in (). Some older names have been forgotten, sorry...

Planned features vor version 0.1.5:

  • team stuff
  • better AI
  • framerate dependant time compensation for realy slow machines

Features that may make it into the 0.1.x-series:

  • --version/-v and --help/h command line option for Linux (Adam Olsen)
  • configurable network port (Justin Pinder)
  • double sound initialisation to work around buggy sound(DragonIce)
  • dedicated server for windows
  • randomize start positions
  • walls stay up after death (alexandre galtier)
  • allow darker bike colors (Danny Cohen)
  • Replay stuff (Instant death replay, 2D strategic replay at the end of the game ...) Difficult.
After that, I will have to rework the engine a bit and replace the current grid representation (the plane is tesselated into triangles) with a more common and more stable quadtree.

More planned features

  • player names appear above cycles (eRVee)
  • make loading faster
  • feature voting
  • add the "Movie Pack" title screen
  • allow transparent walls (Fabrice, Danny Cohen)
  • a special place for your personal logo on the bike texture (Alan P. Warnick)
  • wall breaking powerup (shane vernon)
  • user management in windows
  • make things more configurable: arena size,walls' disappearing speed, difficulty
  • bouncing balls that delete walls
  • snake game
  • proxy network mode: allows connecting multiple players to an internet server using only single player bandwidth
  • a master server and server browser, if there are more than 5 servers out there by that time...
  • option for dissapearing trails
  • "King of the hill" play mode; that should settle the "the coward always wins" problem
  • an overlay map (or radar)
  • joystick support (I want to use my old Amiga joystick!)
  • more game modes (team duel, dm , ctf ...)
  • use multitexture extension to draw dual-textured grid
  • always an issue: improve computer players, graphics, sound and network code
  • items to pick up (boosts, invisibility, rockets, BFG :-D ) IN AN ADDITIONAL GAME MODE. Don't be afraid. Your basic tron game will stay in.
  • diverse cleanups: Already did a lot of work, but there's more...

In my daydreams:

  • make the arena more interesting (multiple layers, ice fields, jump pads, teleporters, ...)
  • add other vehicles (tanks, ...)
  • make the engine more universal to write cool rolling ball games (remember "spin dizzy" and "marble madness"?) and 3D-shooters.
  • MegaMultiplayerMayhemMode! (whatever that is..)
  • find someone who really enjoys playing it :) Well, I found one. New daydream: find a thousand people who really enjoy playing it!
