Try to get the mime

If checked, the type of a file is determined by its content while scanning. For example if you have a jpeg file called "sea.html", GTKtalog will know this file is an image file. If unchecked, GTKtalog guesses the type of the file looking at the extension just like on a MS Windows system. In the preceding example, the sea.html file would be stored as "text/html" without looking further.

Virtual file system scan mode

The value of the option "Virtual file system scan mode" in "Scan Options/Scan mime types" determines the behaviour of GTKtalog while scanning a VFS file.

• "Do not scan VFS". The file is stored in the catalog as a standard file.

• "Scan VFS". The associated program is called to process the VFS file. GTKtalog stores the files and directories of the VFS.

• "Full scan VFS". Same as Scan VFS but also stores each file's size and last modification status date.

Retrieve information about files

If checked, GTKtalog will try to get additional informations about the file through the linked plugin. This information is stored in the Information field. See the Section called Information Plugins. If there is no plugin matching the file type, the next option lets you change this behaviour.

If unchecked, no additional information will be retrieved and the next option is ignored.

Use the default information plugin

The default information plugin is used when GTKtalog cannot find a suitable plugin for the file type. Check this option to enable the call of a particular program in such a case. Specify the Program (default plugin) and its Args (arguments) [default program is "/usr/bin/file", default Args is "-b"].

If unchecked, the information field will be kept empty for this file.
